California Student Winners
at National History Day 2006

“Taking a Stand in History: People, Ideas, Events” was this year’s theme at the annual National History Day (NHD) competition that was held at the University of Maryland, June 11-15, 2006.

Once again, quite a number of our “California kids” brought home laurels from the various levels of competition. Out of thousands of students nationwide who had competed at the local and state levels, the Californians listed here came up winners at the national level.

The Conference of California Historical Societies presented two awards this year to deserving students at the state-level competition.

The young people listed here have expressed a strong commitment to history through their various projects. They join the winners of previous years who have their love of history in common with the dedicated individuals who serve historical societies, museums and other organizations.

Here they are, our winners for this year!
