Speaker: Tad Shay Tad is Lead
Interpretive Ranger for both the
John Muir Site and the Port
Chicago Naval Magazine National
Memorial. He will tell us about
John Muir and his family so that
we can better understand our
tour of their home. He will also
discuss the munitions explosion
which occurred on July 17, 1944
in Port Chicago destroying the
lives of 320 men - the largest
home front disaster to occur
during World War II
Afternoon: on your own
Visit the Martinez Museum
located at 1005 Escobar Street.
Check out the numerous antique
shops scattered throughout
downtown. Walking tours are
available at the Museum
