Gold Bug Park Video History Lesson for Students

ONGOING VIRTUAL EVENT!

The pandemic has indefinitely shuttered Placerville’s historic Gold Bug Park & Mine. As a result, thousands of students are missing an educational field trip to the park.  The school tour supports the state’s 4th grade curriculum for California history and Gold Rush studies. The park’s docents decided that if the kids couldn’t come to the park, they’d bring the park to the kids – virtually!

The result is a five-episode video history lesson featuring the activities of a typical school field trip. The program works well in any distance learning situation and comes with downloadable study materials. It’s available for free in the Teacher’s Corner section of Gold Bug Park’s web page:   https://www.goldbugpark.org/teachers-corner-and-virtual-tours/

Gold Bug Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a state of California Point of Historic Interest.
