The Conference of California Historical Societies is headed to the beautiful City of San Juan Capistrano. From its historic Mission and Los Rios Street to its vibrant trails, train depot and quaint downtown, the City of San Juan Capistrano offers a bevy of historic, entertaining and distinctive locales for tourists. We hope that you can join us for an inspiring weekend to kick off 2016.
The weekend's program is highlighted by a unique tour of Huell Howser Archive and Library, a journey to Los Rios Historic District ,where we will be sure to see the San Juan Capistrano Mission and an unforgettable gathering with Mr. Richard Dureé.
Huell Howser Archives/Library Exhibits Revisit the beauty of the Golden State through the permanent exhibit devoted to late TV legend Huell Howser at Chapman University. The exhibit includes images, text and artifacts, including snippets of his editing notes and a recreation of his office. |
Tour of Downtown Historic Los Rios District The Los Rios Historic District is the oldest neighborhood in California. Some of the forty homes still present date back to the late 1700s and early 1800s. Come explore the history of the place with an experienced tour guide, while being transported to the tranquil pace of a century long gone.

San Juan Capistrano Mission Tour Known as the “Jewel of the Missions”, Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded by Father Serra in 1776. Join us for a tour of the museum rooms, exhibits, gardens and more with experienced docents, while learning about California’s early history. |
