Emmy Award winning Journalist and documentary film producer Bill George has learned there is great interest in California’s Gold Rush and its rich history. As a result he is launching the first of what he dreams will be a popular annual film festival in historic Auburn, CA. The film festival will showcase films from the Gold Country that celebrate the heritage and accomplishments of one of the most historic regions in the world. The historic State Theatre, 965 Lincoln Way, Auburn, originally opened in 1930. Thanks to an extensive restoration effort by the Auburn Placer Performing Arts Committee, it reopened to wide acclaim last year. Features include handicapped access, modern sound and lighting and red velvet seats from Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

The festival will feature productions from area filmmakers such as Auburn's Brendan Compton of BA Productions and the Donner Rails series, well known for his films on the region's rich railroad heritage, and Bill George of Nimbus Films who documents the vestiges of our area's historic past.  Sacramento-area historian and film critic Matías Antonio Bombal will present "The Sacramento Picture," which has sold out multiple occasions.
