The International Printing Museum is a public non-profit organization and was founded in 1988 by David Jacobson and Ernest A. Lindner and features The Lindner Collection of Antique Printing Machinery. Website: https://www.printmuseum.org

David Jacobson of Gutenberg Expositions and collector Ernest A. Lindner started the museum in 1988 to house the Lindner collection of antique printing machinery. The collection has grown with significant donations and acquisitions under the leadership of the museum's board of trustees and its founding curator and executive director, Mark Barbour. The Ben Franklin Gallery Tour:

Beginning with a tour through the Printing Museum's extensive collection of working machinery, you will experience the development of the arts and technologies used to transmit ideas, including writing, paper-making, printing and bookbinding.  From printing a bible page on Gutenberg's Press, to visiting Franklin's printing shop, even watching the marvelous newspaper machines of the Industrial Revolution.

Following your gallery tour, you will step into the Heritage Theatre to meet the inventive Dr. Franklin.  Dr. Franklin will introduce you to his many inventions and discoveries, from swim fins to bi-focals, from the first lending library to the Constitution.  Dr. Franklin demonstrates his static electrical generator, originally used to create a battery, as he aims to ignite minds of all ages with the wonders of science and invention!

Lunch On Your Own in Alpine Village:

A little slice of Bavaria in sunny Southern California, Alpine Village was established in 1968 as a destination for shopping, dining and entertainment.  The village features a restaurant offering a delicious selection of German/American cuisine, along with a cafe offering sandwiches and snacks.  The Alpine Village Imports Market features a huge array of German foods and products, as well as award winning sausages and bakery.

Graphic Arts Tour:

The Museum's Graphic Arts Tour is a visual journey through the graphic world of printing, paper, books, and images using the renowned collections of the Printing Museum.  The tour begins with the ancient Babylonian clay tablets and Egyptian papyrus scrolls to the Chinese invention of paper and printing.  After printing your own page of the Gutenberg Bible, you will help to set metal type and print the pages for a book.  Then you will learn how to sew and bind your first book using historical models as inspiration!
